Using Netmeeting and Skype
To start NetMeeting, select Start then Run from the Taskbar at the bottom left of the screen.
Then type conf in the dialog box.
The instructor will provide you with an IP address which you will use to “Place a call” and join the online session (it will be in the form of XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) by entering it in the dialog box. Then click on the telephone icon to make the connection.
You will then join the online session to receive the visual portion of the session.
To join the audio portion, you will need to run Skype…
Using Skype
Skype is a software package that allows you to make calls over the internet using your computer with a microphone and speakers/ear phones (it is recommended that you use ear phones to reduce any echo and background noise during the sessions). It also allows you to make calls to other computers running Skype at no cost.
If you do not currently have Skype installed on your system, you will need to download and install it. Click here for instructions on how to download, install and set up Skype.
After you have successfully installed the program, and created an account (if you do did not already have one), you are ready to join the audio portion of the online session.
Your instructor will provide contact details to join the session. Please add this contact to your Skype address book.
At the designed time, you can make your Skype call to the instructor to join the online session. You will also need run Netmeeting as well to access the visual portion of the online session.
