PEO Admission Guide
Internationally Educated Engineers Admission Guide To
Professional Engineers Ontario – Information Session
Next Session: August 9, 2008 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Course code: FE16-F08
In an effort to address concerns regarding the difficulty and lack of information available to internationally educated engineers about obtaining their Professional Engineering license, EPIC is offering a presentation called “Foreign-Educated Engineers Admission Guide to Professional Engineers Ontario”.
This presentation has been developed by Prof. Stelian George-Cosh, MASc., P.Eng., himself a foreign-educated engineer who has lived through the process of earning his Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Ontario.
This presentation provides valuable information to those wishing to earn their P.Eng. in Ontario and to help dispel some of the rumours and misconceptions about the process that many newcomers to the country may have. Mr. George-Cosh explains all of the steps required to earn a license and the reasoning behind them. He also helps direct the prospective engineer to the resources necessary to satisfy the requirements. The information presented is based not only on his own research, insight and personal experience earning his license, but also from his years as a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) Experience Requirement Committee. There will be a question and answer period during the presentation to address all participant questions concerning the process.
The objectives of the session are as follows:
To understand the difference between Canadian professional status and other countries
How to prepare the admission package for a speedy application
How to prepare for the Experience Review Committee (ERC) interview
How to prepare for PEO technical examinations
Included with the presentation is a 46 page guidebook, authored by Mr. George-Cosh, which briefly describes the Canadian legal system and provides some background into the history and formation of the current process as well as explains the requirements for a licence and the authorities who govern and regulate the process.
The sessions are held in our Learning Centre located at 5759 Coopers Avenue, Mississauga. The fee to attend is $30 (includes GST). For more information or to register, please call Ruby at (905) 361-1901 ext. 222 or e-mail iee@epic-edu.com.
